![]() Seems like a tiny irritation but when you have dozens of tasks and projects ( I have five kids, take four courses and manage a household and job), you need a task manager that is quick to use and robust in reminders. Todoist allows you to look quickly and see everything. So, when you are giving a cursory glance at your phone screen to see your tasks, if you don’t remember the details for longer tasks you must tap on each one. Both TickTick and Things limit task views on the first screen to one line and use ellipses to connote that there is more to be read. Now this might sound ridiculous, but the only reason I am using Todoist consistently right now is because, on the iPhone, out of all three apps Todoist is the ONLY one that will show all lines of a task without having to actually tap the task to view it completely. I very much wish they had a calendar view like Things and TickTick so that I did not have to constantly open my Google calendar to see the big picture of tasks and events integration. Advanced natural language: With the help of Natural language commands, you can set the task day, time, date, etc., in the task title. ![]() Filters, with the help of queries, allow you to organize tasks. Todoist is your best bet for staying on top of your tasks: l love the SMS reminders as well as the daily summary. Filters: Todoist offers the filters option for free, while TickTick puts this feature in the premium version. I like the UI so much that I keep trying to make it work for me. It is a lovely app for people who are not too busy and need aggressive reminders. TickTick 4. In their most recent update they’ve added a lot of new features. Things is beautiful, but their reminds are not robust, and you can not add images to tasks. TickTick took some time to catch-up with Todoist. But setting reminders is very easy in TickTick. Both TickTick and Things do not send out an email summary of your daily tasks due like Todoist does. When looking at the UI for your list of projects and tasks, it can be hard absorb due to lack of white space. Your calendar events are in various colours, but tasks from all projects appear as a dull grey, which makes it hard to determine which task belongs to which project. TickTick is a nice app, but I wish that you could colorcode your project tasks on their calendar. I wish I could take their best features and make a new task manager. I’ve played around with these three extensively and have premium versions for both Things and Todoist.
